What is a lustre photo finish?

A lustre photo finish is a semi-gloss surface that sits between glossy and matte. It has a soft, silky sheen that brings out vibrant colours and fine detail in your photos, while keeping reflective glare to a minimum. 

Lustre prints also have a very slight texture that makes them more resistant to fingerprint marks than glossy prints. You might also see this finish described as satin, semi-gloss, or pearl, but these names all refer to the same type of surface.

Is lustre the same as satin, semi-gloss or pearl?

Yes, lustre, satin, semi-gloss and pearl are all names used to describe the same style of photo finish. All four terms refer to a mid-sheen surface that gives your photos a soft, warm glow without the full mirror-like shine of a glossy print. 

Many of our framed photo prints feature a similar semi-gloss finish, as the reduced glare means you can display photos just about anywhere. 

Lustre vs glossy photo prints - which is better?

Lustre prints are ready to Click & Collect within 5 working days. Next-day home delivery is also available on all lustre prints ordered before 12pm (Monday to Friday), but please see our full shipping policy for a full delivery timetable.
