If you don’t want a mount, you can simply choose a frame size that matches your print size. Easy peasy. However, if you want to add a mount border around your print, then you’ll need a frame that’s an inch or two larger than your picture on each side.

What size frame do I need for an A4 print?

To frame an A4 print with no mount, simply choose an A4 frame. If you want a mount border around your A4 print, you can either choose an A3 or a 16x11.5” frame. A3 frames offer a wider border and gallery-style look, whereas 16x11.5” frames offer a more classic feel. 

A4 picture frames are particularly popular for displaying certificates, documents, kids' artwork, and anything else on standard printer paper. This is the easiest frame size to find online, so you might want to consider printing photos in A4 to find the perfect frame for it easily. 

What size frame do I need for an A3 print?

Simply choose an A3 frame if you’re framing an A3 print with no mount. If you’d like to include a mount, then 20x16” frames are usually the best choice, but you could also opt for an A2 frame if you’d like a chunkier border. 

Double the size of A4, frames for A3 enlargements are just as easy to find. Suitable for displaying on the wall, they’re a great choice if you’re framing a feature piece that needs to grab attention. 

6x4” photo frame sizes

When printing photos online, the standard photo size is usually 6x4”. This is the smallest photo frame size on this list, and they’re a very popular choice for photo walls and collage displays.

If you want to frame a 6x4” with a mount border, then 8x6” and 10x8” frames offer a fantastic balance between the border and your photo.

Photo frames are usually measured using the inside dimensions, so you’ll simply need to order a frame that matches the size of your photo.  For example, if your photo measures 7x5”, then you’ll just need a 7x5” frame.
